Pros
- Small school so great community feel, with supportive parents and coworkers. - Free snacks/meals donated once a month for all staff on campus - "Fall" break (extra week off in October, very much needed for everyone) - Students/teacher ratio is max. 25 per class and there's an effort to keep the number low - Very open-minded and inclusive environment for everyone, with a lot of welcomed diversity - Fun and well-organized winter holiday parties, and team building events throughout the year - Wellness Wednesdays once a month (staff can leave campus at 2pm)
Cons
- Low pay compared to surrounding districts, with little to no funding for positions that require significant extra workload and overtime (grade level leads, department chairs etc.) - Training ("PD") is overall redundant and feels like time wasted away from planning, especially at the beginning of the schoolyear. - Too many required meetings during the week, with required tutoring times, with required duties that clutter teachers' schedules - Little to no communication (or inefficient) between admin and staff. This is very stressful. - There's no sturdy substitutes system in place, so teachers have to find their own sub. If no sub is available, teachers have to ask their peers. - High admin turnover with heavy changes
