Pros
1) They tend to hire employees from non-traditional backgrounds. This provides a great opportunity for career changers or new graduates to gain valuable higher ed experience. 2) Most campuses are centrally located.
Cons
1) Upper management can appear very removed from front line employees. As a result many employees feel as if they don't matter to upper administration. 2) There does not seem to be any set guidelines for salary increases or promotions. This results in discord as people with 5 years + experience are supervised by recently promoted employees with little higher ed experience.
