Pros

There are a handful of good people working there. Unfortunately, the good ones tend to leave early. What the institution stands for is just fine. Advising software and technology is up to speed.

Cons

- If you have prior academic advising experience; stay away from PACT. - If you prefer autonomy in your day to day tasks; stay away from PACT. - Micromanagement is inevitable. - You will not be compensated accordingly, regardless of the market. - Academic Advisors in the NYC metropolitan area make more, doing less work. - You are required to work Saturdays, if you are lucky, you will see a student in the hallway, thus wasting your time, gas, and commuting costs. - Outreach campaigns have potential to upset you sooner rather than later. - PACT Counselors are expected to be saviors. - Don't pursue a graduate degree, your paycheck will take a huge hit due to taxes. - Monotonous assignment after monotonous assignment. - The turnover rate is rampant. - Stop advertising to students counselors can discuss financial aid concerns. There is a financial aid office for that. - Having advisors assist with move-in day? Never heard of such a thing. - Having advisors stand at commencement for 8 hours? - Assistant Counselors have to work 2 Saturdays in order to get a comp day.
