Pros

This is a legitimate company, which is disputed online. But they did pay me weekly for the work that I did and I found that there was no issues with payment reaching my account.

Cons

During my time here I was added to a task that would involve recruiting others for unpaid labor. Many fellow contractors suggested this would involve paying these people out of their own pocket as no one would volunteer to do what they were asking for free, and the wages were already not commiserate with industry standard for what I do. Overall, I found the company to be unethical and decided to no longer do any business with them. Communication overall is very poor, and tasks where they promise communication will not be as bad as your previous experiences with other teams are actually identical in their failures to communicate. Projects start and stop leaving extra inconsistency, and as this is contract work they have no repercussions for doing so. As with most companies that believe they have reinvented the wheel, the reinvention is simply "we aren't going to provide benefits or guarantee of employment and pocket those funds". Wouldn't touch them again with a 10 foot pole.

Pros

My pre-hire research found Mercor rated as an "above average to very good" AI-modeling platform, which is in line with Glassdoor's 4.0 employee rating. Based on my experience at Mercor, its employee rating is inflated, and the AI-modeling platform industry is in dire need of improvement if Mercor's industry is above average. Here are my pros: - Being paid for time spent on training. - Pay for Generalists is among the industry's highest. - Working remotely and on your schedule.

Cons

Communication at Mercor is horrible. For example, most of the emails I receive in my Mercor email account are coworkers who have no idea what to do next or who to ask to find out. Prompting emails from our Project Lead that instruct us to disregard said emails. Here are a few more cons: - Blaming everything on our clients. - Communication's ineffective and inefficient. - Disorganization. - Fear of being offboarded suddenly and without explanation. - Lack of employee rapport. - Not being valued. - Projects don't last long. And you may wait weeks for the next one.
