Pros

+ Networking opportunities are endless with all the events you will attend + Career opportunities. (I was not a health/science major (go liberal arts!!) and didn't know much about men's health but I was given a chance to show what I did know, I was also a recent grad looking for experience) + Opportunity to move around the different roles + Flexibility and autonomy to take your project for yourself and report back, senior staff is on top of it, but not going as far as micromanaging + Opportunities to travel with staff to events (free sightseeing after work!) + Small staff (ability for you to be involved with a little bit of everything that interests you and with all staff members) + Employment after internships is highly likely if you show initiative and complete projects satisfactorily (plus many interns never even asked about being hired after internship, first step is to ask! not to expect it from them) + Internships are eclectic and you just have to show interest and ambition to take initiative in projects staff is working on to be able to do more of what you want (that also help with the chance to be hired once the internship is done *hint hint*) + Multiple senior managers so someone is always available + Staff knowledgeable on the issues and happy to help bring you up to speed so you can do presentations and meetings + Comments from people in communities who recognize the work that MHN does and is thankful for their support over the years. I saw lots of that and lots of former staff/interns stopping by to say hi when they were in town

Cons

- Small staff (with all the work and projects they have going) - Office space (saw someone had mentioned that in previous posts, but since I left they upgraded to new offices, I kept in mind they always said they "had a D- building in an A+ location", they were ON the Hill across the street from Senate) - To many interns at one time with not enough desk space or computers - Not enough projects for every intern - Unpaid internships - Functioning on a not for profit budget (so salaries are not the best)
