Pros

No such thing in this company. However, the colleagues are generally friendly, helpful and willing to share their knowledge. One/two managers are genuinely supportive and make an effort to teach and guide. However, you will still gain real exposure to a large scale wastewater treatment plant if you are early in your career.

Cons

If you're someone looking for structure, support, or even basic professionalism in a workplace, I would advise you to think twice. My experience at this company was extremely disappointing and, frankly, eye-opening in ways I never expected this early in my career. First of all, the job responsibilities I was assigned were completely different from what was stated in the job posting. It felt like the company reused an old job template out of convenience, without making any updates relevant to the actual role. Onboarding was chaotic. On my first day, no one told me who to report to or even gave basic guidance. I had to take the initiative to follow around a senior colleague just to understand what was going on. Thankfully, the colleagues were kind and willing to help, but at the managerial level, things were shockingly disorganized and lacking direction. There was a requirement to attend a safety class, but I couldn’t join on time due to pending site clearance, which is mandatory before you can access the plant. One of the managers, who was new, scolding without even understanding this process, highlighting the lack of internal communication. In some meetings, their manager level people communication skills were subpar, especially for individuals who have supposedly been working in Singapore for years. It was embarrassing and unprofessional. They couldn’t even express themselves properly in many situations. The management overall was the worst I've encountered, even though I’m still early in my career, I strongly believe this will be the lowest point in terms of company culture and leadership. Many managers seemed to do almost nothing, and the overall direction of the company was unclear at best. Employee welfare is nearly nonexistent. There's no water dispenser in the office, and the hygiene situation is terrible. At one point, the site office ran out of drinking water entirely for some days. Toilets were left uncleaned due to unpaid cleaning services; it got to a point where using the ‘grass’ felt more comfortable. Moreover, company tried to set my commencement date after the course which was required to attend, essentially trying to avoid paying salary for that time. I had to speak up to get what I was rightfully owed. Remember, if you stay silent, they will take advantage. The company’s approach to hiring feels transactional. Once they feel they no longer need you, they will cut you off without concern. There's no real care for employee development or well-being. That said, if you’re someone who’s incredibly brave and looking for a once-in-a-lifetime “what not to do” case study, then perhaps this is the place for you. The experience will definitely redefine your expectations of a “bad company.”
