Horrible top-down close-minded management environment - Copywriter Melaleuca Employee Review

Pros

The only pro was the free product check every month. Every other "perk" was designed to make you feel obligated to devote your every waking hour to the company in exchange.

Cons

Where do I start? The company feels like its employees owe it their lives because they are so gracious enough to provide employment. Upper management does not value the opinion of middle management or lower employees, even though said employees have specific expertise in certain areas. Career paths exist only if you are buddy-buddy with the right people. The company says it wants innovative ideas, when in reality, they are stuck in the "this is the way it's always been done" mentality. It is a brain-wash culture, just as the independent sales executive side is. You only succeed there if you believe Melaleuca is god's gift to the business world. Raises are based SOLELY on upper management's evaluation, but if you have no interaction with upper management, you have no chance of getting a raise. They live in an industrial-age mindset where they actually track what time you walk into the building and what time you leave, and weigh your performance review more on that than on what you actually accomplish in your job. Just overall backwards thinking.

Pros

Great to work for, the people are kind and willing to help you with any problem you run into.

Cons

They're stingy with promotions and probably won't utilize you to your fullest capacity

Pros

- side benefits are okay - it is a median sort of job - I personally have some freedom do to personal professional development on the clock when there is no immediate need for my work (happens very little) - People half listen once they know you have been at Melaleuca after about 5 years

Cons

- No management that knows what they are doing - Not very customer-focused - Don't seek to fulfill their strategic imperatives or strategies or mission - Very hard for people to listen to you because you're new - They don't have a lot of integrity - Very slow to solve problems - Don't worry about making improvements in processes or tools we use - Slow AI usage and no proficiency in AI usage, strategies or implementation - Managers micromanage because Melaleuca is "unique" - Most of the positive things they tout all the time serves only the company's image, not the employees - Don't worry about giving raises in a timely manner - Not goal-oriented employer And I could probably keep going, but will stop here.
