Pros

Seattle location is quite historic/unique; a private roof top deck with unparalleled views of Elliot Bay on one side and the Seattle skyline on the other. Good health benefits. A culture of camaraderie and teamwork for the most part, however that camaraderie has more to do with trench-war style bonding under pressure than legitimate professional mutual respect. The tone between employees is more comrade-in-arms than collegial.

Cons

Employees feel constantly under siege; high stress work environment. High turn over with little to no career advancement path as all senior positions are held by employees with extremely long tenure. Demonstrably low pay compared to skill requirements; HR left a spreadsheet in the main floor copier showing many of the Seattle employee's actual wages pegged against industry standards and only a few non-management employees are above the 20th percentile by Megapath's own measurement. It's a place where team meetings are always a dower and end with everyone grimacing as they exit the room, pondering what fresh new hell they must soon deal with. Floor management is high maintenance yet unpredictable; line employees are either ignored or micromanaged depending on whim, which leads to teams always feeling on edge or walking on eggshells. It goes without saying that morale is incredibly low across the entire company and shows no sign of improving.

Thank you for taking the time to share your view. As noted in your comments, the Seattle office is in a great location and in addition to the amazing views, employees enjoy the 'beer on the deck' happy hours during nice weather. While there is always room for improvement, employee morale seems to be on the rise during the last year - a recent employee feedback survey that was administered by an outside third party showed significant improvement in employee satisfaction and key areas of focus such as communication, training, systems and tools. New programs were put in place this year including stock options for employees based on tenure, bonus plans relevant to employee's roles and dept. objectives, and engaging wellness initiatives to name a few. Employee retention has also shown significant improvement over last year. Customer satisfaction and feedback has also shown substantial improvement. It is a little disappointing to see this feedback in light of these positive indicators, however MegaPath is committed to continuous improvement and being the provider and employer of choice for our customers and employees.

Pros

Easy access to other departments - once they've got a face to a name, people are super helpful! Work with some pretty brilliant and helpful people

Cons

People get away with posting fake orders & metrics The man who lead the team that posted the most fake/innacurate orders keeps getting promoted (it's good to be the CEO's nephew, right?) Employee feedback is only valued when you're at plan (that's been five to ten sales reps/mo out of around 80) Leadership only cares about what you produce - don't expect anyone to assist you with personal growth Working with depts at other locations is painful unless they're one of the few in their role that care about the cusotmer Half the support teams are now in Manila - they speak English well, but their comprehension is poor and extremely painful to both internal employees and customers The company wasted $100,000 on a bare bones knock-off plug-in for SalesForce (which they could not get to implement correctly) They use the "spaghetti standard" for lead gen - throw ideas out into the internet and see what sticks
