Pros
This is a great opportunity for those who are interested in the medical field, and it allows you to personally network with hospital/clinical staff, which then gives one a sense of what working in the healthcare industry is like. It is also great if you are looking for recommendations for future jobs/schools from your doctors.
Cons
There is little room for error and sometimes you might not even realize you've made a mistake before it is too late since performance communication happens behind the scribes back. Every scribe can be easily replaced and that makes you feel trivial, and insignificant among staff and management. Additionally, there is a lack of a sense of community and trust within the company, which can make one feel disconnected from co-workers, and the company itself. The little incentives there are seem impossible to acquire, and the company's policies can be very strict. Lastly, this is a job for someone who is looking for the experience rather than a good paying job with benefits and many opportunities to advance within the company.
