Pros

You will learn a ton of things when you start working here. They have a huge diverse portfolio of clients across all industries. They use current software to administer support. Very nice building including a gym and an awesome kitchen.

Cons

Management changes their minds every week about how they want things done. They complain about money every couple of days. The turnover rate is really high. The compensation is sporadic and based on how the owner feels instead of anything conrete. There are no consequences for long time employees who slack off. Compensation is middle of the road for the area and below the industry.

Pros

Very few pros about Mayer Networks. They try to coerce you into liking the place by dangling back massages and food trucks. Company vehicle is a joke, cell phone reimbursement is taken away once you get keys to a car.

Cons

Terrible insurance, worst insurance I have ever experienced in a company. Some technicians get away with watching movies while others run around doing everything. Project management is a joke as they basically tell you it's your responsibility to design everything and get no help from the worthless administrators. HR is almost non-existent and only works when it's convenient for them. The more you interact with the owner (James Mayer) the less work you need to do, and everyone knows this. Employees are only there to make him (James Mayer) money and no benefit comes from working as hard as you can, it's actually frowned upon to think for yourself though. Always do what they say but then get in trouble for doing what the say. This place needs shut down. No one should work for this terrible company and no one should allow them to maintain their IT. AVOID!

Thanks for your feedback, however I think you have purposefully given an unfair review in an attempt to somehow damage Mayer Networks. I would like to address each one of your statements. "They try to coerce you into liking the place by dangling back massages and food trucks. Company vehicle is a joke, cell phone reimbursement is taken away once you get keys to a car." We don't "dangle" anything in front of staff members. It has been a tradition of Mayer Networks for many years to offer things like monthly chair massage, a company car to drive for business and personal use (keep in mind that Mayer Networks pays for most of the personal gas use, frequent lunches paid for by the company, 99% company paid health insurance, cell phone reimbursement, and finally tuition or training reimbursement. We have done ice cream trucks in the past, but not food trucks. This might be something cool to do with the team, thanks for the suggestion! Regarding taking away the cell phone reimbursement, I’m sorry but this has never happened to any staff member since it’s inception (10+ years ago). I really don't understand how anyone would try and turn these benefits into a negative or even complain about them. Not sure how receiving a company car is a joke, sure it would be great if they were Ferraris' but I suppose a Buick will have to do for now. “Terrible insurance, worst insurance I have ever experienced in a company.” I could see a staff member being upset if they actually paid a lot of money for their health insurance every month and it was terrible. However, most staff members pay between $2 to $4 per month for their health insurance, since Mayer Networks picks up 99% of the bill each month. On frequent occasions staff members have been asked if the health insurance is good, ok, bad, etc. and never once in 5+ years has a complaint been given regarding it. The owners would be more than happy to switch to something different if it benefited the staff and everyone wanted to change, even if it meant the company had to pay more than it already does ($700+ a month per staff member). I wish you would have brought this to our attention during any number of the company meetings we have. Unfortunately, if an issue is never brought up, nothing can be done to change something for the better. Every staff member knows the owners have an open-door policy to come talk about anything they wish, it appears that you didn’t take advantage of this for whatever reason. “Project management is a joke as they basically tell you it's your responsibility to design everything and get no help from the worthless administrators.” This is an interesting comment, because management and owners have their hand in every aspect of every project that comes through, however yes, they do allow staff members to have ownership of their portions of the projects which many staff members have commented that they appreciate. Frankly, we would rather trust you in your work as opposed to micro-managing you. Owners go out of their way to ensure as best they can the happiness of staff members. Businesses are in business to make money, that’s kind of the point. Mayer Networks offers a lot back to staff members because of the hard work they perform. Many staff members receive bonuses “out of the blue” simply for doing a good job and being a valued asset to the company. On top of what the owners give for bonuses, every staff member has opportunities to gain hundreds of dollars a month in the form of $50 gift cards for positive surveys that come in from clients they assist. It sounds like you never received any gift cards or bonuses, which I’m sorry for, but those items are additional benefits on top of all the others simply for doing a good job and pleasing clients. Furthermore, if the company makes money, this goes into new things for the business which directly relate to staff happiness. Recent purchases have been things like new computers, sit and stand desks, new tools, new cars, etc. If a company never makes money, it couldn’t possibly offer all the benefits Mayer Networks does and all the additional items purchased for the staff. I’m sorry you had a rough work experience with Mayer Networks. If I may offer a suggestion; whatever business you work for, suggestions should always be given on how to make the workplace better, but if you don’t speak up and give suggestions, nothing can change and ultimately you end up quitting and endlessly never finding a true home.
