Pros

The pros of this job were only things that pre-existed the purchase of VES. Every change made by Maximus has been one stab after another. Can I think of a single pro since they took over? Hmmmm…. I don’t feel the need to work as hard to go above and beyond since they clearly don’t care enough to pay me well for my work?

Cons

Compensation, I am barely making ends meet now since they cut my pay IN HALF. Literally in half without notice. Benefits are not included, we pay for them. Their training program “updates” are trash and inefficient. How can you design a training program when you have never done the job? Maximus vastly underestimates the complexity of what VES does. They have taken away all independence and instead choose to implement processes to basically spy on their staff rather than implementing processes to help Veterans. There is a complete lack of transparency.

Pros

Remote, adequate training and guidance and usually everything /software works - minus regular hiccups.

Cons

Not too many - a few misunderstanding s about training classes and roles but overall, not bad.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
