Pros

Good onboarding team led by David Ong and HR executives. Get thrown into big projects with relatively little direct experience. It's a sink-or-swim mentality, but forces you to learn fast. Skilled upper management, highly respected with advanced degrees in their respective fields Good benefits package- health, 401k matching, dental, etc.

Cons

Lower base pay than most competitors- exclusively government contracts restrict pay. So unless you are specifically interested in state and federal government contractor work might be wise to include other firms in your search. Lack of cohesion between divisions - though they have restructured since my departure Lack of upward mobility without advanced degree

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
