Pros

Good view on a Hudson River

Cons

Working at Maximus was extremely unpleasant experience. Training is intense approximately 2 weeks long in class environment following by the shadowing for the next 2 weeks. Call volume is crazy, not enough stuff because people constantly leaving. Management is poor, supervisors are rude and bossy. QA stuff keep everyone in fear of firing providing constant updates about quality of calls taken not making their reviews fair. QA does many mistakes and never admit it, instead they fire back with pointing out to more things they couldn't do to you. They also encourage everyone to rat on each other, not letting employees to speak their minds and not encourage people to connect even though they constantly mention team work. Maximus does not motivate their employees and tempts. Every morning being with threats by sending an email to every single person in the company about terminating positions. You can see the list of people who just left the company after a short period of time working there. Company explain this emails being sent so everyone knows the person left and won't provide them access to the building. Occasionally company sends mysterious emails alarming everyone that someone let terminating employee access to the building, however no one ever seen or heard those individuals on the floor. Supervisors are not the smartest people, some of them have only high school education, a lot of energy biasing people around and little knowledge. Harassment free and equal opportunities policies are not being enforced. You will get two contradicted to each other answers from supervisors, that is why you need to document their names in notes for future reference when QA will deduct points from you for work done. They don't fill positions accordingly, currently we had no leads, they using temp employees helping each other instead of sups doing their job and not taking pray brakes during the day. Maximus gets new group of tempts every 4 months, people leave usually withing the first 2 month. Every group consist of approximately 25 new tempts speaking 4 NY official languages: Spanish, Chinese, Russian and Bengali. Maximus promise to make you permanent withing the first 3 month working from the agency but usually it will happen after a year or more if you'll survive. Company does not employ people because they would have extremely high turnover rate and they unemployment insurance will go truth the roof providing bad company image. They are failing social responsibility keeping people working for the company. No benefits are provided, insurance they offer, don't worth paying for it. Lateness policy is unfairly strict. If you come late your adherence will fail and will delay your chance to become permanent that's is why people don't come instead. Management encourage perm employees follow the book and request days off and vacations in advance. Some employee bought a vacation package 6 month in advance and submitted for approval. It was not approved before a day of her trip she employee had to say that she is going on vacation regardless. I have met people who drink and get high at work, and those people are sups and higher management who have been withing the company for a long time. If you come from an agency and this is the only way to get in, make sure you read your contract and sick days policy so you know how to use it in your advantage. Every day is like on fire working at Maxilus, experience is not helpful and financially not beneficial. Everyday is a drama about something. Supervisors age gossiping about everyone but not letting employees do the same. A lot of favoritism regarding promotions within the company. Company has no culture or values.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
