Pros

Pay and benefits are okay Sometimes you can transfer to another project 4% annual raise if you manage to miss the layoff

Cons

Over hires for busy season Lets half the staff go every January Does not consider job performance when letting people go Also I was assaulted by a supervisor here who still has their job after trying to follow me home. HR reviewed the case and apologized, but nothing beyond that to my knowledge. I got transferred to another project shortly after and then got caught up in that project's yearly layoff as a result.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
