Pros

The customers are honestly the best part of this job. Many of them are kind, genuine, and truly appreciate the help you give them. It’s rewarding to style someone, boost their confidence, and see them light up when an outfit comes together perfectly. Maurices attracts great people, and creating those positive, one-on-one experiences can feel meaningful. The store atmosphere itself can also be upbeat when everyone’s in sync and doing their best to help shoppers have a great experience.

Cons

The pay for stylists is absolutely unacceptable given the amount of work expected. For $12.50 an hour, you’re basically serving as a personal shopper. You greet customers the moment they walk in, help them select outfits, build full looks, prep fitting rooms, fetch different sizes, and check in repeatedly to make sure everything fits perfectly. You are constantly moving, juggling multiple people at once, and doing everything possible to make sure each person feels cared for. It’s a high-touch, full-service experience that the company loves to market, yet the pay doesn’t even come close to reflecting the effort, energy, and customer service level required. It feels exploitative, especially when you realize how much money is being made off the products you help sell. There’s no commission, no performance incentives, and the physical and emotional workload can be exhausting. The company’s priorities seem completely out of balance. They expect luxury-level service on a minimum-wage paycheck. It’s frustrating and disheartening because the employees are the ones who make the brand experience possible.

Pros

AMAZING team and encouraging, helpful supervisors. Helped me in every aspect of life, even outside work. Definitely made connections for life.

Cons

Retail hours: holidays, evenings, and weekends. Lower than average pay, and benefits are not the best.

Pros

Loved welcoming customers and helping them find their style

Cons

Worst job ever, racism at the most, only Hispanic that worked there and got sexually harassed by the manager every time she was there, she wouldn’t let me leave back room until I told her I was done with the job by also illegally firing me she also accused me of wearing no underwear in front of the whole store, my coworkers were nothing but jealous one of them would tell the manager if I came in wearing leggings so I would get in trouble bc for some odd reason everyone besides me was aloud to wear them, the manager also publicly humiliated me multiple times on my last day and laughed in my face once I was crying. also in the span of TWO MONTHS. I got ONE SHIFT that was 1 hour and 34 minutes. ps I have proof and corporate did nothing ab it, it even after I had stated that I had proof!
