Pros

I’ve worked with a lot of startups, and early-stage chaos is usually part of the deal. Matter Labs is different. The mission is incredibly strong, and both the CEO and CTO do a great job of aligning the entire organisation around it. What stands out even more is how intentionally they invest in their people. There’s a thoughtful balance here. I have the freedom to experiment and iterate in my work, but also the operational support to do it well. The chiefs of staff play an important role in making sure we have what we need to be effective. It’s not just about moving fast. It’s about moving fast while building things properly. They have high expectations on employees but they are also committed to being a top tier employer for compensation. There’s also a clear understanding across the business that everyone contributes to zkSync’s growth. No one is treated like a cost centre. Everyone is seen as a valuable part of the bigger picture. If you’re looking for a company that prioritises quality over headcount and wants every hire to be part of the mission, I would highly recommend Matter Labs.

Cons

I’ve not encountered anything I’d call a con yet. I’d just caution that Matter Labs is focused on building a small, high-impact business. Expectations are high across the board, and that might not suit everyone. Personally, I find it thrilling.
