Pros

The company really values everyone's opinions. They know that developers have technical insights that managers won't, and respect devs' comments appropriately. "Rational workplace" is one of the core values, and is very obvious throughout the company: the reasons for decisions are generally public, and even in the exceptional cases managers will be happy to explain in private. MathWorks has a huge concern for software quality and stamping out bugs, with the attitude that everyone can contribute. Developers can be promoted to management but can stay as senior developers with no management responsibilities if they prefer. Salary increases above inflation every year even during the recession.

Cons

The company's not keen on part-time working or working from home. They have a lot of processes and practices, some of which are pretty heavyweight: development philosophy is not very "agile".

Pros

The company places a strong emphasis on continuous learning and professional growth, with clear encouragement for employees to develop their skills over time. There are frequent, fun company events that help build connections across teams and contribute to a genuinely friendly and collaborative culture. Overall, the organization takes a very staff-focused approach, prioritizing employee well-being and fostering an environment where people feel supported and valued.

Cons

With a globally distributed workforce, it can sometimes be challenging to coordinate schedules or connect in person with colleagues.
