Pros

The people at Match Group are what make the company stand out—they’re incredibly hardworking and genuinely care about one another. The company has offered great perks like catered lunches, a barista program, and regular events. However, many of these benefits may be at risk due to recent cost-cutting measures.

Cons

My time at Match Group was marked by ongoing challenges, particularly related to senior leadership and organizational culture. Many leaders appeared primarily focused on output and cost savings rather than team well-being or long-term development. While a few genuinely cared about their teams, the overall tone from leadership often lacked empathy and tact. The company operates with a largely U.S.-centric mindset, which made communication and collaboration difficult for international offices like Canada, Europe and Asia. Managers are often based in other cities, and there were frequent disconnects in style, expectations, and support. Unfortunately, this created an environment where Canadian employees were frequently overlooked or undervalued. Growth opportunities for those based outside the U.S. were minimal. In a recent restructuring, many experienced managers and directors were let go shortly before a vesting cycle, while more junior employees were retained and expected to absorb higher-level responsibilities—essentially increasing workloads while reducing costs. Leadership openly acknowledged the financial savings this approach yielded in unvested equity, which was disheartening. Favoritism was another concern. Some leaders appeared to prioritize loyalty over performance, which made it difficult for those who offered differing perspectives to thrive.

Pros

-Great people and culture -Great offices, perks, free food, always having office events and pop ups -Great benefits (strong 401k match, no medical premium for employee PPO) -Great tech stack, lots of embracing experimentation/AI/ways to be more efficient -Great CEO and strategic direction of the company

Cons

-Opportunity for standardizing processes (lots of variation among Match Group brands, and surprisingly not a lot of infrastructure for things you would expect to be built out) -Opportunity for consistent OKRs/goal setting vs. done within brands in silos so there are clear priorities and who is doing what -Sometimes feels Slack heavy / chaotic

Pros

Leadership has articulated a clear, motivating vision for the company’s future. At the Match Group level, the breadth of brands you can collaborate with and learn from makes the work feel meaningful and impactful. Being part of the “human connection” space is genuinely exciting, and MG is at the forefront of where the industry is headed. Overall, the people are fantastic: supportive, collaborative, and largely energized by the work they do.

Cons

Collaboration across teams and brands has room to improve, particularly in creating space for new perspectives and willingness to work together. In some cases, seasoned mid-level management can be less welcoming or supportive of new team members and alternative approaches to how work has traditionally been done.
