Pros

Cool product, I liked my colleagues.

Cons

Management is no help- everything is poorly run and that is why there is a mass exodus. Great idea though, too bad they treat their employees poorly. Do not work here if you want career development- they see you as just a machine. Go work literally anywhere else. They also constantly try to change the commission model to pay u less and less. Also- no HR at this company. Should be a red flag that speaks for itself.

Pros

I’ve had the chance to work on genuinely interesting problems at the intersection of art, finance, technology, and operations. The work is not repetitive; there are always real business problems to solve, and there is a lot of room to build tools, improve processes, and take ownership. The people are a major strength. Teams are collaborative, smart, and generally willing to jump in when something needs to get figured out. I’ve also appreciated that individual contributors can have meaningful impact here, especially if they are proactive and comfortable working across functions. The office, lunches, and overall environment are also strong positives, but for me the biggest benefit has been the ability to work on complex operational systems and actually see the impact of the work.

Cons

Because the company moves quickly, processes and documentation can sometimes lag behind the pace of the work. Some teams are lean, so there can be a lot of context switching and ownership can occasionally be unclear until someone steps in and drives it.

Pros

As a Data Scientist at Masterworks, I’ve particularly enjoyed working on quantitative questions that don’t have obvious answers or established playbooks. The company sits at an unusual intersection of art, finance, and technology, which creates opportunities to apply analytical and modeling techniques in ways that are difficult to find elsewhere. What makes this especially rewarding is the degree of ownership that comes with the role. The environment is highly meritocratic and discussions are data-driven. Individuals are trusted to shape both the approach and implementation of their work, while maintaining a strong focus on solving real business problems. That level of ownership is supported by a collaborative culture. Colleagues are willing to share knowledge and genuinely invested in helping each other succeed. Beyond the work itself, the company offers great perks, including free daily lunch, a beautiful office, and a startup culture.

Cons

As with most growing companies, business priorities can sometimes take precedence over longer-term exploratory work.
