Pros

Can pick up projects when you want besides when it's slow. It's slow about half of the year where you might make $30 a day but are expected to be near your computer to get something.

Cons

No matter how good you're doing they're constantly threatening to cut the amount of work you're able to pick up. They pretend like this job isn't your livelihood and will threaten it all of the time. You get rated out of 5 stars for every edit and after 3 reviews under 3 stars they cut your work back even if you've gotten hundreds of 4 star and above reviews and expect to get a mean message with every mistake you make. I was here for a little over a year and even after a year they still treated me like I was incompetent and would always threaten my job even though I never went below a four star rating. There are editing instructions that prompts or clients will get wrong but as a video editor you take on all of the blame even when it isn't your fault. I haven't encountered a single person who is in a management role here that's kind to the video editors. It feels like they're trained to be mean to the video editors. They also cut your work back if you get 5 stars but have too many revisions even if those revisions aren't your fault. This was the most stressful job I've ever had in my life. You don't get paid for your onboarding which takes 2-3 hours. They don't pay you for any extra trainings you might have to take on. They treat you like you're disposable. All around a horrible experience that I'm glad is finally over. You're freelance but they treat you like you're a full time employee. No benefits at all, low pay for the level of work you do, and I'll say it again, terrible management. When you start they have most of the projects open to you but then they close the majority of projects off to you and have a leveling system. You start at level 4 where you get virtually no work and to get to level 3 they say you have to make a certain amount of videos but when you make that amount you find out it's actually based on favoritism. If you can find any other editing job it'll save you the stress and make you life a lot happier.

Pros

MarketScale gives you real ownership and smart teammates. The pace is fast, expectations are clear, and when things bottleneck it’s usually cross-team communication, resolution. I’ve grown my career, skills, and knowledge here.

Cons

The entrepreneurial, high-ownership pace isn’t for everyone, but for me, it’s a big plus.

Pros

Great work-life balance. Great opportunity to make a difference coaching Fortune 100 clients in high stakeholder conversations and relationships.

Cons

There is constant change and it really is a fast environment. Every week there was a new initiative new training that seemed to contradict the previous week. It is moving as fast as the AI industry is moving. Client services were moved in-house although it is clear that this was a cut for costs as they had a big emphasis on cutting costs this last year in editing and software. The tech also was becoming more and more glitchy and not as well tested as it should before launching to clients with a lot of issues on calls. This really the most frustrating part of the experience. I believe the clients overall benefit from the platforms and the clients deserve a strong client services team for what they are paying for.
