Great corporate ideals, local implementation misses the mark but overall, a nice place to work. - Customer Service Representative Markel Employee Review

Pros

Paid approx $17/hr in 2019 for inbound CSR role answer work comp and specialty insurance claims inquiries. Nice open office with lots of desk space and windows. Had L shape desk which was 5' x 6'; far roomier than the typical cubicle (size of must supervisor cubicles found within call centers- for once didn't have to worry about difficulty hearing customers over other coworkers). Nice ratio of reps to floor size. Only about 30 reps total in call floor as opposed to 80 which would typically be squeezed into the same size call floor in the majority of call center floors. Received great, detailed training. Instead of getting 100% of training at once, training is dispersed over approximately 6 months, getting the first, basic two weeks for answering basic calls, then take calls for approximately six weeks. Once mastered, given next level of training for approx add'l week, began taking calls for expanded issues, once mastered, given more training...pattern continues...)

Cons

Supervisors don't really help much but rather just micromanage as opposed to mentor or groom for success. No real opportunity for growth due to the supervisory style.
