Pros
- The software is genuinely useful, it saves lives. Not your average "trying to trick folks into buying more stuff they can't afford with money they don't have" fintech job. - Good people who value the company's mission. - Good team culture, I genuinely liked people I was working with - Decent compensation
Cons
No accountability. There are numerous projects, both past and current, that have continued for years, without delivering anything. There have been multiple managers who were promoted several times in a row without delivering anything. I've seen a manager promoted after he failed a project. Product leadership is non-existent, at least in my area. Nobody owned the product, or put much thought into where it should get and if/how we can get it there. What we were working on each quarter might as well have been decided by dice. Engineers don't own the infrastructure their services run on and the platform team is in shambles, so getting anything to production is a giant pain.
