Pros
The students and teachers here are great. I love working with students one on one and in small groups, able to see them grow and change as the year goes on. The work is very rewarding.
The teachers I work with are very positive and are essentially your lifeline when working at Manus. They will help you with learning the way of the school and how to best succeed.
Cons
This place does not foster positive environments between administration and employees. There is no communication other than waiting for an email at the end of your day to see what administration thought you did wrong during your time working. The emails are passive aggressive and don't offer any advice or means to change, they often word something like this: "I noticed today when I was in your classroom that you were doing xyz. I'm confused and concerned about this behavior as it was never discussed at all."
There is no training to work here. The administration gives you a large book to work on that details the curriculum, but there is no assistance or mentoring or anything that resembles training in a normal sense.
They do not tell you what they expect from you as an employee, it's a waiting game to see when you mess up and do something they don't approve of. This behavior can be as minimal as how you choose to read a book to your class, or how you choose to give instructions to your class.
