The benefits of both the medical insurance and the Florida retirement system are great to have access to. There are also additional benefits afforded to every employee that come from the office specifically. The hours are consistent with M-F, with many federal holidays being covered. The workplace culture is top notch. Everyone is very supportive and helpful.

Very public facing role, meaning that there is the occasional tough customer.

The Manatee County Tax Collector's Office is better than any place I've worked at. The benefits are as good as can be expected for any state government job. Good health insurance at a reasonable cost, lots of holidays off, and a decent amount of time off that doesn't take long to acquire. The schedule is very consistent, 8-5 Monday through Friday unless there's a holiday. And team leaders are very willing and able to work with you to help you achieve whatever goals you may have. The vacation goes by a "bidding" system, so you have to plan vacations every six months, and the time period from application to interview is a bit long compared to some jobs, but all in all, if you're looking for an 8-5 and don't need it yesterday, I can't recommend any better place!
