Pros

Met some cool co-workers that i am still friends with today. Had days where it was mellow and relaxed enough for coworkers to go out for drinks after. Friday breakfasts and the occasional luncheon sponsored by the company were decent perks. Bill Malcolm is very personable.

Cons

This place is a revolving door. Most employees have no expectation of being there long term and management is totally ok with it. This leads to a very low morale working environment where all coworkers talk about behind managements back is how much they hate working there for such little pay. The formal dress code doesn't help anything either. The pay was insulting, the hours were long, this job was an unorganized assembly line. "Lets take in the clients business and figure out the rest later." This approach leads to you having 300 files to work on and furthering you hating being there. This is as entry level law firm as it gets. The attorneys mainly went to tier 3 law schools and couldn't find law firm jobs elsewhere, otherwise why would an attorney take a job for $60k? The paralegals all fresh college grad's who are having trouble finding a job, so working at a law firm sounds like a good start for them

Pros

So grateful to have been employed with MC during this time. We had all been frightened by the news of the pandemic and the California shut down. Management showed concern for all staff’s safety above all other and has worked with us on hybrid or remote schedules for more than a year now. I almost miss the commute!

Cons

Working in the legal field is challenging and takes dedication and a commitment to excellence.

Pros

MC is a great place to gain experience in the legal profession. If you have little to no experience in the legal profession, but you'd like to cut your teeth and learn the ropes, MC is a great place to work. The two owners are personable, family-oriented people. The senior attorneys are adept at their profession, and the support staff is friendly. Breakfast is provided every Friday, and every month a catered lunch is provided to celebrate all birthdays occurring during that month.

Cons

MC actively targets entry-level (assistant) paralegals and recently admitted attorneys, mostly to justify their low hourly rates/salary. Not only does the low pay breed contempt for the "too much work, too little pay" culture, but it serves to have the support staff be little more than a revolving door of new employees (who need to be educated/trained in what to do - remember, these are people who likely have little to no legal experience) replacing the most recently trained batch of employees who got fed up after 9-12 months of lots of work/too little pay with almost no hope of a meaningful pay raise. MC is a volume based law firm, and their business cycle is subject to fluctuations in the foreclosure industry.
