Pros

Supportive Team Culture - a collaborative environment where ideas are valued across the board. Exciting and Fast-Paced - consistently engaged in meaningful projects (if you're a good project manager and work hard!) that are both stimulating and highly rewarding. Career Growth – plenty of opportunities to learn, develop, and take on responsibility for the right people. Strong Employee Engagement – leadership values staff input, involves every single person in the strategic cycle, provides clear and transparent communication on business updates and does not shy away from answering tough questions at the monthly townhall. The company is also committed to CSR and does a lot to give back to the community. Lots of Social Activities and Wellbeing Initiatives - there's a bar, there's a big gym, there's a snooker table, a pool table, a table tennis, poker tables, (golf simulator in the Sydney office), chess, lots of games and tournaments, a zen den/prayer room, lots of fun events, free weekly yoga and PT classes with instructor in the in-house gym (with a view!!), weekly poker, free cereal and fruit daily, free lunch every so often, cool parties, bouldering / netball / padel / football and the list goes on.. the company is quite generous and is big on connecting its people and values relationship-building. Inspiring founder with strong values and a genuine commitment to the firm's culture - big on philanthropy. Approachable and down-to-earth CEO who fosters a positive and open company culture. Great new London office - looks FAB!! Most people are easy to talk to, management is very approachable and is fair when it comes to 'give and take' (if you're flexible and work hard, you don't need to worry about taking some downtime when needed - this is in fact encouraged, to prevent burnout!) Flexible leave and weekly WFH. Lots of training available for juniors and some really talented people that are more than happy to sit with you and share their knowledge.

Cons

Keeping up with technological advancements (e.g., the adoption of AI and automation tools) and staying ahead of the curve would enhance efficiency and maintain a competitive edge. The learning curve can be steep for those new to the industry. A more structured onboarding or training programme could help bridge the gap faster, which I know is already work in progress.

Mako works with a very flat leadership structure, very easy to communicate with Head of Global Trading, CEO and CFO are very easy accessible, company has a great bonus structure and gives competitive draws as salaries. very much a no nonsense, do your job and lets have a beer after environment which seems to get the best out of its people.

Cons

The company's trading systems are slightly outdated and are up for a complete make-over to stay competitive in the ever changing market of derivatives
