Pros

Training, overtime opportunities, highest band of pay for administrative jobs (08), high expectations, great co workers, cafeteria has great food choices, positive department outlook now that staffing issue is being cared for

Cons

Workplace is small and not enough desks for staff, not everyone has access to certain departments but responsibilities are expected to be equally shared regardless: example: behavioral health, favoritism is noticeable making others unable to speak up when something comes up, quick to scold but not a lot of positive feedback, if you leave 2 hours early after working all day sick, it counts as 1 whole occurrence even if you have sick time and have never called out- you get 5 a year, that’s not a lot considering all the sicknesses you are exposed to in a hospital and bring home to your family and children

Pros

Great, supportive work environment. Lots of educational opportunities.

Cons

Patient ratios are sometimes unmanageable but unfortunately that is everywhere in healthcare these days.

Pros

NONE, FIND SOME PLACE BETTER, DECEPTIVE

Cons

No paid maternity leave for new mothers unless you've worked there for a year. Because after all family planning is totally and one hundred percent predictable. If you decide you want to have a family before this arbitrary date you will receive no support from this institution. I was lied to during my interview process about this benefit several times and it played a huge role in my decision to choose to work here, a decision have come to regret now. Maine general has decided that you're bonding time with your new born is less special if you have not worked there for an arbitrary amount of time regardless of whether you are full time or not. Its shameful and disgraceful and turned what should have been a happy time into an unbelievable stressful time. Do yourself a favor and find a hospital that believes in families and values and treating its employees like human beings not just interested in making a few extra bucks and padding the pockets of the C suite.
