Pros
-unlimited free books -fun coworkers -creative control
Cons
-the pay is horrible. actually HORRID. -completely depends on your manager. if you have a supportive manager, you're in luck. if not, which is most likely the case, be ready to be completely overworked and undervalued. -communication from the executive level is so misdirecting that it feels malicious. they have no intention of sympathizing with lower level employees or their problems with the company. -every department is overworked to the bone, so if you're in editorial be prepared to be everyone's least favorite person. each department will blame you for their problems. -too many projects per editor/designer/publicist/etc. you have to pick and choose the projects you want to actually put care into. -absolutely insane promotion structure. you only get 1-2% "living cost" raise every year. to get any other kind of raise, you need to be promoted. -"we're a family" mentality that is severely toxic and harmful -everyone is overworked. i really can't emphasize that enough. it is not uncommon to have cried on any given day. managers are completely unsympathetic and uninterested in helping or changing the system.
