Pros
MacRitchie Engineering serves a market that needs to be served; smaller projects that require professional engineering services from residential to 50 KSF schools, town halls and other public projects. Public housing and private housing including condominiums. If you enjoy a challenge and do not mind rapidly changing direction, you just might thrive here. You can learn a lot but only by chance.
Cons
No management to speak of. Each employee is essentially in a silo with their own smaller projects, making collaboration difficult. Getting or giving focus-time from other disciplines while everyone has their own fires to put out, makes for errors and lost deadlines. No support staff. All technical staff do all of their own word processing, forms, specifications to the point of inefficiency, and are berated for not using lower-salary staff to perform documentation. (There is not such office support staff, really.) The two partners are almost openly at war with each other, undermining the other to staff when the other is not present. Toxic culture.
