MacFarlane Group (KS)

Is this your company?

Overall good experience. Great place to get entry level experience. Probably not the place for a long term career. - Anonymous employee MacFarlane Group (KS) Employee Review

Pros

Company provides opportunities for advancement and the opportunity for career development. Casual work environment. Try to do things for the employees like "Employee Appreciate Day", but they usually turn out to be a slap in the face to the hard working front line employees.

Cons

Upper management does what they want when they want. Very much a do as I say, not as I do environment. If you are liked by someone in upper management, you can do no wrong. If someone doesn't like you, you can't do anything right. Upper management in HR picks and chooses who she will apply the rules to and who she won't based upon who she personally likes/dislikes.

Pros

Good chance to improve/increase your skill set. Fellow co workers are great people to work with.

Cons

The chance to improve/increase your skill set is brought on by high turnover and the need to cover for the departing personnel. Some of the upper management have an air of paranoia about themselves. Dearth of great leadership. There were one or two executive level personnel that were great people to work with, placed in an absolute terrible position to bring about change. They would have great ideas to improve the company and to create a wider portfolio (other than borderline predatory lending), and they were met with absolute staunch disapproval. The environment suffers anytime you have a lack of leadership, or support for good leadership. Also, for a company that was providing support for a tribal lending entity, the personnel (particularly upper management) are LARGELY ignorant to the ways, history and culture of indigenous people. It was apparent in the speech and behavior. There were events that took place where things were said that made it very apparent that they had no idea about some of the history indigenous people have had in this country.
