Pros

Good snacks, decent location, easy enough to get promoted if you make the right friends. Totally anti-AI, which may appeal to some.

Cons

When a company officially names an executive “Chief Business Officer” (??) you should already know what you’re in for. MX hired an unqualified director who falsified their previous experience and proceeded to fire half a department in their first 60 days. This is a company whose culture is playing defense for your job from day one. Leadership preaches value fanaticism and then fires anyone who disagrees with them. Managers from every function have no sense of “time off” and will call your personal cell from HR records at any hour. A fellow employee took their own life and management forbade anyone from talking about it, which if you know the history of this company is odd to say the least. Management openly refused to hire or promote new middle managers in case they disagreed with them, yet had no time to mentor or coach employees. Frequent requests were made for unreasonable or frankly inane turnarounds on large tasks because of a lack of planning. Comp structure changes (read: pay decreases) were also frequent. This could have once been a great company, but few traces of that remain.

Pros

MX moves quickly, which may not be the most enjoyable reality for some. But for me, I love it. I have had an incredible run at MX because I am learning and growing every single day. MX is genuinely mission-driven. I have learned that the leadership team will move mountains to ensure we abide by MX values. I am given appropriate authority to make decisions commensurate with my role and level and my work is directly linked to our mission. These aspects of work matter so much to me. I want to feel like the work I am doing every day matters. I want to feel like I am contributing with purpose. I want to feel like I have a voice - and I do.

Cons

There are still a lot of team members who are just here for a paycheck. That can be discouraging because you hope that everyone you work with cares about trying their best and being held accountable to working hard. Because I am committed to working hard, I have been highly rewarded and have progressed quickly in my career. I constantly hear from team members that they don't experience career progression but these are often the same people who just show up and do the bare minimum and hope to be paid well.

Pros

MX has some good things going for them. Catered lunches, fully stocked break room, good benefits. Pay is decent. But the top thing is that there are so many incredibly talented individuals that care about the work they do. You have a lot of opportunities to grow in your career and the size of the company is perfect for ensuring that each individual can have an impact.

Cons

There is a big culture of reminiscing on the good old days. If you weren’t around for the 17 hour work days, you’ll never get it. And you’ll be constantly reminded of that. Leadership doesn’t show any amount of work/life balance so your evenings/ time off will not be respected. And there’s a significant lack of communication and transparency from the leadership. Also, massages got taken away with zero explanation or replacement for that benefit. I would not recommend leaving a job to go to MX.
