Pros

+ Stability. Most people stay here at least for 10-15 years with a good income and bonus system. + The work environment is also chill and relax considering that its a quite traditional and local company, so they take everything (projects and tasks) slowly but carefully. + They provide a lot other things employee can do outside work, for example Sports facility, trip events, social events, communal service events, etc. + Free MTR Rides to everywhere including Airport Express, Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau. (Including family members)

Cons

- Not much opportunity for promotion since vacancy is very limited, unless you have really good relationship with your boss. Even that is still difficult. - Very little amount of annual leave. - No work from Home policy at all. Sometime it is also quite stressful to stay in the Office only. - Depends on your team or department, but some working culture are harsh. On some team, the senior management is rude and inconsiderate. - Sometime it can be boring since it is a relatively traditional in culture - If Cantonese is not your first language, it is going to be a bit more difficult.

Pros

- big company - brand-name effect - accepts interns of all years I actually really enjoyed my experience and what I learnt. the environment is lax, yet employees are willing to help you learn. Part of the attractiveness of working in a big company is that their internship programs will be more established, and MTR delivered just that. My project experience was satisfying, and there was a strong sense of letting interns take ownership over their projects.

Cons

- bureaucratic - slow pace, stagnant (my manager had to wait 10 years for his promotion) - mean age is 35+ MTR has a monopoly over the metro services in Hong Kong. As such, there isn't a sense of always being better and better, but rather just keep doing what they have been doing all this time. As an intern, I found it hard to introduce new concepts, software and tools to the company.
