Pros

In a rapidly changing industry, MSI has continued to grow and succeed under the original owners and leadership of the family. The mission and values are clear in their actions and expectations. For example, not one employee was laid off or furloughed since the Covid-19 crisis began. Next, there is a high level of autonomy in the sales roles with of course a high level of responsibility. Operating as a microbusiness within a business is the best of both worlds. Last, there is plenty of data to go around. It may seem unimportant, but being able to show customers added value is powerful.

Cons

It's a big company, so sometimes information exchange can become disjointed (across departments not top down). Sometimes there are glitches with orders, but my feeling about this is that every surfaces company has similar problems. It's a matter of managing it properly and being ahead of it.

Pros

I wish I could give you a pro RUN away if you can

Cons

Where do I start…. Micromanagement to the max: Dissecting your mileage to your sales visits even though the mileage app sucked and did not work half the time. If you drive their car you can’t even drink water as the camera will alert corporate and you get a nasty email. False promises: only be overnight 1-2 nights a week which was not true Zero training on what’s important Let people sell instead of burying them in worthless tasks Had me train for 8 weeks away from home like I was in the military and I stared at a wall in an office. My wife had a medical scare early on and I mentioned that I would like to be with her with the diagnosis and they still made me travel 8 hours from home. Pretty sure they were forcing me out as I talked to other sales reps and they weren’t under the pressure that I was. It’s not really a real sales job there is no selling your basically and order taker and spend your time trying to figure out the mess of ordering.
