Pros

- able to go into the office

Cons

- Does not provide laptops or any benefits of a big company because they do not have the money (had to bring in my personal laptop to work) - No call perks or incentives for hitting call numbers or goals, do not get your first placement/commission until 9 months of being there - Small office, cramped cubicles and rooms (about 3 recruiters at the company all squished into one room) - Was not provided with the correct training of any CRM systems, no formal recruiting training since they rarely hire new people/only 1 person in the training class yet expected to know everything and had to share one dice account. - Very quiet, no happy hours, not a sociable environment like other staffing agencies -Not given any tools to succeed and expected to know everything even though I had no industry experience, was talked down upon by the CEO for not knowing the answer to something after 1 week of being there, even though I was never explained or taught correctly, and when I tried to explain this, I was reprimanded. - Expected to stay late every day, again I was not aware or ever told I must stay past my work hours especially during training and was yelled at. -In trouble for not being "bubbly" enough when responding to my manager (I said ok great got it! in response to a question I asked over chat) and was told this was inappropriate and if I talk like this now, they don't want to know what my attitude would be like years down the road

It was actually one of our employees who found this review here, and she wanted to respond to it in her own words: "I came across this review accidentally, and I immediately knew who wrote it! I happened to witness this hire in training at MMD after I had started with them a few months earlier myself. I am a senior recruiter with years of experience working at other places under my belt. With said, unlike the author of this review, I have a few points of comparison that my opinion of MMD is based on. To address some the author’s key points: 1) Although the company is small, we do have all the latest tools for sourcing and advertisement. In fact, management is very supportive when we ask to try using something new, and we are encouraged to propose our ideas. 2) You don’t need to bring your own computer; we all have fast machines with double monitors. 3) We are in a contemporary well-lit office space with its own bar, we celebrate our wins and milestones as a team and often get clients visiting us for a happy hour! 4) I can say that this has been the most lucrative commission structure I've ever experienced and there is no timeline limit – your commissions start with your first placement! We are sad that the author couldn’t find a home with us- when the new person starts in a small group like ours, we are all invested in their success. I can’t speak for the author’s manager or our CEO, but I personally offered the author my help on a few occasions, unfortunately, it was met with disinterest and even resistance. I am glad that the author found a place where they can fit in and prosper."

Pros

MMD is an outstanding IT agency, and the women in leadership are class acts. If you're a Recruiter looking to grow your career, or return to the agency side, and make great money, this is the place to be. And yes, laptops are provided! 😊

Cons

I have nothing to complain about—there’s an incredible amount of business and opportunity on the table. To succeed here, you need to be driven, hardworking, and motivated by success.

Pros

Small team environment with supportive peers. Good location.

Cons

Leadership positions the agency as different, promoting role ownership, strong client relationships, and a steady stream of closable roles. In my experience, the day-to-day reality didn’t fully reflect that message. It's important to note a few things. This is a small organization. Leadership has only worked at this agency, which limits outside perspective. In my opinion, that influenced the company culture, how clients were handled, how goals were set, and how feedback was delivered. Additionally, at least five recruiters have departed over an eight-month span. The ownership model for recruiters didn’t play out as promoted. Role ownership often shifted from week to week. Recruiters had limited opportunity to engage directly with clients, as sales (leadership) maintained heavy oversight. Participation in intake calls was limited despite what I was told. When recruiters were invited, the calls were often for VMS roles shared across multiple agencies, leaving little room for meaningful client partnership. The agency does have long-standing client relationships, but all roles were worked on a contingent basis. I saw many that had been sitting open for several months, as well as backfills for contractor turnover. Roles were often unfillable due to compensation mismatches, yet these roles were still prioritized by leadership. Even when there was little traction despite consistent recruiter effort, there was pressure to perform. Time could have been better spent consulting with clients on flexibility/solutions, or moving on to focus on business development to obtain more fillable roles. The hybrid policy was not what I expected. I was told 2 days onsite, but learned from the team in week one that remote days depended on hitting a specific weekly goal. When that goal wasn’t met (and it was regularly missed by half the team), the expectation shifted to 3+ days in office. This wasn’t mentioned in interviews, and I saw new hires learn about it in real time too. If you pay attention, you’ll notice the technical recruiter role is always posted. From my perspective, that reflects turnover more than growth.

Thanks for being open about your time with us. We know jumping into agency recruiting early in your career can feel like a trial by fire, and we genuinely value the feedback as we work on making our onboarding smoother. Just to clear the air on a few things: MMD has actually been around for nearly 20 years. We’ve stayed small on purpose because it helps us keep our core team stable and our client relationships deep. Regarding the autonomy piece we usually wait to hand over the keys to client accounts until a recruiter feels totally solid on our process. It’s about setting you up to win, not holding you back. We also take fillability seriously; we don't pursue VMS roles unless we have a relationship with the manager. At the end of the day, agency life isn't for everyone, and that’s okay! We truly wish you nothing but the best in your next chapter.
