Cons
I would not recommend working at MKM Partners unless you have no other offers from any other Wall Street firms and if you do end up working at MKM I'd strongly recommend leaving ASAP if you do get a better job opportunity, because it’s a pretty bad company to work for. The company is only a good fit for those who’ve worked in Wall St. for a considerable time and are looking for a better work/life balance, but still want to work in finance. I would not recommend a long term career here for entry level employees and management has the exact thinking in mind; they're just using you for as long as they can. I would only work at MKM until you can obtain your Series licenses if you haven't already received them First, at the entry level, you will have to do the work of 2-3 Associates, so expect to work long hours. I was working from 7/7:30AM-12:30AM/1AM plus commute. Coffee will soon become your best friend and I would not expect much of a social life, because you have to continuously know what is happening in your sector even when you are not working (reading news articles, taking notes on industry changes, etc…). Second, despite working long hours, you will be underpaid; this isn't a place where you'll be making millions, but you probably won't be starving either. Third, management is crooked; they are only looking out for themselves; they do not expect entry level employees to stay on for very long, so just be mindful of this and don’t get to friendly with them or your coworkers; the culture’s not good and I’ve experienced harassment and discrimination while I’ve worked here.
