Pros

MIT has one of the best, if not the best, support systems for graduate students in the United States. As a student at MIT for the past 7-8 years, I have noticed first hand that graduate students have a range of employment opportunities, from research to labs that covers both tuition and stipend to teaching assistantship roles as well as administrator roles. MIT also provides the best health coverage available and a yearly increase in the salary of about 4-5%.

Cons

Not all Departments at MIT are treated equally in the distribution of funds and many Departments offer student teaching assistantships that come without tuition coverage.

Pros

High quality core facilities and well resourced labs. Countless brilliant colleagues who can serve as mentors and collaborators

Cons

Students and Postdocs are expensive due to high overhead, so unreasonably high productivity is often expected compared to other institutions. PIs are typically stretched very thin. Most departments/labs are very space limited which makes it harder to do safe and productive research.
