Pros

Good perks, work-life balance, luxurious parties

Cons

Working at MBK depends on what department you work! In some departments if you work hard you will be valued, be promoted and get valuable experience! In some departments you just work and get paid! You won’t be neither promoted nor get experience! Because the company is in a good shape and has generous benefits so none of the managers want to move or be replaced. Some managers are insecure and are afraid of losing their jobs, so you never learn more by working with them. Favoritism is popular in MBK and some managers have lack of management skills to run the department. The good news is, HR department is becoming more professional by leaving some employees who didn’t want to work other than gossiping and politics! New VP of HR is working to make MBK better place to work.

Pros

Professional staff, good benefits, friendly office, and well-capitalized; however, the industrial group lacks communication and focus, and is not profitable. Apparently, they did not review the construction data, new deliveries, and vacancy projections, or perhaps they just ignored these issues and hoped for the best.

Cons

The Senior Living and Apartment divisions are solid, but the industrial side is over-built and not profitable, which was not disclosed when I was hired. I would have selected other opportunities if I had known how bad the portfolio performance actually was. How their capital structure, primarily as LP in most cases, adds to the problem of achieving acceptable returns. It will be challenging for quite some time.
