I’d always been in engineering in roles with a mix of hands on and desk-based work which required lots of interaction with colleagues. I’m afraid to say my MBDA experience was staring at a computer barely talking to anyone. There wasn’t really any work to do and no management support. What really shocked me was a business trip with colleagues who drank like theres no tomorrow. If you’re in a job you care about, you don’t drink like that during the week. I had a lot of thinking time sat at my desk, and if that’s a defence job, I’m out. I now work in a far more technical and interactive role which isn’t in an office, and it’s a job I can influence.
