Pros

Catered lunches and snacks are nice.

Cons

I would have given a positive review of I wrote this a week ago. Up until recently, Matrixx was a good employer to work for overall, in spite of high workloads at times in engineering. However, the new CEO just announced the removal of a huge perk that made it a great company to work for: Working from home on Tuesdays and Fridays. It can't be understated how big of a loss this is, and this will hurt morale among key engineers! At the same time she was announcing the death of working from home as a perk, she emphasized smaller perks, such as having a ping pong tournament in the office during lunch. Those are fine for those who are interested in them, but they come nowhere close to the perk of working from home, and the fact that Glo is treating it like they offset is a big red flag to me. Keep in mind that the removal of regular work from home days was just announced the day I wrote this, so previous positive reviews of Matrixx may not have been as positive without it. Consequently, the reviews about good work-life balance and working from home no longer apply. Many engineers took a job here for a lower salary because this was such a great perk, and I wouldn't be surprised if we lose key engineers over it. Matrixx isn't yet a terrible company to work for, but it won't be as good as previous reviews indicate, and there are red flags with the new leadership.

Thank you for your candid feedback. To clarify, the ability to work from home is still an option and is based on management discretion. We have simply moved from “designated work from home days” to “unstructured work from home flexibility”. Our goal is to increase the collaboration as we scale and provide all of the same benefits every day to increase your choices. We encourage you speak with your manager to get further clarification regarding what works for your team. We are also now offering free lunch five (5) days a week vs. our previous offering of three (3) days a week. Ping-Pong is an added activity and it is a personal choice to participate - we hope you do and it’s ok if you don’t! We encourage our employees to take time to have some fun together during the workday. We are continuously looking into other activities that help with this. Ideas are welcomed. Thank you again for your feedback. Please feel free to share your concerns or any other feedback to your manager, HR or Glo directly.

Pros

- Competitive pay in the Telco sector.

Cons

- They burned through investor money until they faced debt maturity issues. - No significant production deployments; the majority of deployments were in lab environments. - Customers primarily purchased the product for side-by-side comparisons with larger enterprise competitors to negotiate better discounts on the main platform. As a result, it was never truly production-ready. - The CEO boosted sales but failed to build a capable delivery organization. - The company was forced to sell to its main competitor, after which customers could no longer obtain discounts on the larger product. Most people and features will likely be consolidated. The new owner will have to clean up the internal mess. - DEI policies failed. - Extremely poor Machiavellian-style management characterized by plausible deniability and maneuvering that undermined shareholder value. - Massive nepotism: without an internal insider supporting you, it was nearly impossible to succeed. - People routinely took credit for others’ work.
