Pros

-the position attracts young, high energy people -convenient located right in downtown Lexington

Cons

-terrible commission structure and low base salary -no potential career development -poor office environment - decade old furniture -despite the young workforce nothing is done to engage and keep them with the company - everything is stale -extremely high turnover rate. In my short time there, the company went from about 15 to 4, including the two co-founders and this is pretty typical for the company, every year or there is an entirely new group that leaves in a year or so. Nothing has been done to attempt to retain employees longer. -poor training and employee management process - employee performance evaluations occur on a weekly basis and do not high light positive aspects, only metrics oriented. If numbers are not met, the recruiters personal characteristics is called into question despite having no relation to job function.

Most of our hires are entry-level and it’s hard to know if they’ll like recruiting, or if they’ll be good at it. High-level technology recruiting and placement is a demanding and complex sales career which requires superior relationship-building skills, drive, and sustained hard work. Everyone we've hired has been bright and personable, but brought very little real-world experience to the table in terms of sales, recruiting, or technology. Some of them “got” this business quickly and succeeded, but many did not in spite of our best efforts. This is the reality of the recruiting business at Lynx and everywhere. We're small and as a result everyone here has a voice. We've learned and evolved and have improved the way we interview people, and the ways we plan to develop them over the early months of their careers here. We are also actively improving our compensation structure to be more competitive. We have huge demand for our services, and much opportunity is here for the right people. Training has been a priority for us, especially where entry-level hires are so key here. We expend a great deal of effort, time, and expense to bring new people up to speed. Not only do we do our own in-house training, but mentoring opportunities from very seasoned people are available. Career development and promotion is readily available here, but it’s not going to be handed to you. Several entry level recruiters hired within the last couple of years were promoted to running their own placement desks with unlimited upside financial potential. Other individuals have been given the opportunity to lead a team and build new business areas. We have great track records and enormous credibility in the Boston hitech community, and will gladly share our hard-earned experience and recruiting wisdom, as well as give you access to our broad and deep network of relationships that have been cultivated over the last twenty-five years. We've always felt that it’s important to have financial stability, and our company has succeeded for over two decades, through three major recessions, without ever having to miss a payroll or delay paying a commission or a bill because of cash flow, and even though we’re small, we offer high-quality medical and dental benefits and state-of-the-art tools.. So, yes, we do have old furniture … in fact, we bought most of it used from companies that over-reached and went out of business.

Pros

Great management team that is always willing to help out in both personal and professional life. Balancing the 2 can be hard but not here. This job gives you the chance to be yourself while also advancing your career and life. I never saw myself doing sales and marketing but now its all I can see myself doing. I get to talk to people and make money at the same time. It's the best of both worlds for me personally. I would highly recommend the position to anyone looking to plant roots and start a career.

Cons

The job as amazing as it is isn't all fun and games. Days are hard sometimes and the goals can be challenging. But aren't all jobs like that?? I have not found a single job that isnt challenging sometimes. But the management training program, team environment and the good days far outweigh the challenging days and goals. Overall in my few months here I have not seen any cons to the job. It is 100% commision but there is a safety net if you don't hit your goals to outweigh that. Because nobody works for free and the management team understands that.

Pros

Lynx is a small recruiting firm that tends to hire young people with a strong desire to make a lot of money. They CEO and his business partner have a ton of Recruiting experience and can teach you a lot about the business. This is a great place to learn the Recruitment business (how to cold call, interview, and close deals) BUT you must be willing to work extremely hard. Lynx is much more forgiving than most Recruiting companies if you aren't hitting your numbers and they are willing to try and help you as much as possible before deciding it isn't working out. I think the compensation is in line with most agency recruiting firms on the perm side. If you are an experienced Recruiter who wants to sit down and make money and you don't care about being in a super nice office with fancy stuff, you would certainly like it here.

Cons

It is very micro-managed by the CEO but i think that is to be expected with a small company. While the compensation is fairly standard they way it is weighted towards the candidate side is very strange. This is definitely a place for Recruiters who want to learn some of the Biz Dev side of the business but you will definitely be focused mostly on recruiting candidates.
