Pros

Fairly modern office space that is centrally located downtown. Good VC backing and blue-sky opportunity for technology.

Cons

Not-progressive in any sense when it comes to employees and culture, and always looking for a magic solution that can be done in a quarter which makes things very short-sighted. While they have good financial backing, they really require executive management support from outside reporting to the board in order to really capitalize on their situation or they'll become irrelevant. This could be a much stronger company but it can't help itself, can't focus and really isn't a rewarding place to work when it comes down to it. Its really too bad because there is quite significant unrealized opportunity from a potential growth perspective. I hate to say negative things but i hope this reviews helps someone who is looking for a career choice to make a better choice at this point in time.

Pros

Benefits are great, people are friendly, and the company has a big, positive impact on the world around it. Projects are challenging in a good way, and there are some smart people working here.

Cons

Because of its recent explosion of growth, office spaces are cramped, and the company has been slow to address other growth-related pains. Some scientists have been promoted to lead groups, and they would benefit from management training.

Thank you very much for this valuable feedback. You’re absolutely right that our rapid growth has presented some challenges. Because we more than doubled our number of staff during the pandemic, space is an issue at several of our locations and we’ve been looking into options to improve that. You also make a good point about the need for more management training. We recognize this is another growth-related issue, and one of our priorities for this quarter is to develop management training and development programs. We are also working to improve connections between divisions by establishing communications leads for each department, which will be in place by the end of this month. While it’s good to hear some of our recent initiatives are addressing the challenges you’ve identified, we encourage you to reach out directly to HR to discuss in more detail to help us improve further. As you said, we do strive to be a great employer, and constructive feedback like this helps get us closer to that goal. Thank you again.
