Pros
It's easy to be scared away by a startup. Everyone assumes long hours, wearing too many hats, chaos, dysfunction, mediocre pay and below-average benefits. Lumin is the opposite of all that. Yes, Lumin is a start up and things move at a fast pace, but chaos is by far the exception and not the norm. People genuinely care about each other and work hard to help each other out. Collaboration is a huge component of the culture. Managers actually care about work-life-balance and make an effort to ensure their team members take time off. The pay is competitive and benefits are pretty good considering the size.
Cons
There isn't always great opportunity for mentorship and coaching. In a smaller, leaner, flat structure, you won't find a lot of people able to coach and mentor you in your role. As noted, everyone is helpful and willing to take time to share their knowledge, but as a small startup, you are on your own (to a degree) for learning and growing. That said, the professional development benefit is great and useful for learning new things.
