Pros
Having worked for the company for 8+ years and relocated multiple times for advancement opportunities, I can testify that you can earn very good pay and learn valuable life skills that will always come in handy if you are willing to learn. They also have had a strong emphasis on developing people for the next level if you not only communicate that desire but show that you are willing to show what you can offer them. Lasting friendships are often made with your co-workers.
Cons
The past few years I have noticed changes that I do not think are in the best interest of the company and also have had negative impact on employee morale. Training used to be more significant not only for entry level positions but most especially for management. The company has done away with both EMTP (Entry Management Training Program) to prepare people for Department Manager positions as well as MTP (for Zone Managers / ASMs). Both of these programs helped to develop critical skill sets that I have seen severely lacking in newer management. The hiring process for senior management has shifted to outside hires and it is too much to take in for these people. I have seen numerous recent hires get eaten alive due to lack of training trying to hit the ground running. These are the causes... The effect: the need for a "bench" of Assistant Store Managers within markets.
