Pros

At Longboard your career is what you make it. The number of people hired in the last year that were hired for a particular role, saw an unmet need, and are now leading Y initiative is astounding. With the freedom to take on projects that are not just important to the firm but also personally meaningful, it shows in the quality of the results.

Cons

As a start-up mode business, Longboard has historically done a whole bunch of things very quickly and changed course just as quickly to adapt to market conditions and the needs of clients. In the last quarter or so, there is a shift toward doing a handful of things very well for a longer period of time. This shift is disruptive in many ways and has caused short-term friction and stress between teams and processes, however the shift is in the long-term best interest of the business as we continue to grow and scale.

Pros

Longboard is a company for people who want to work hard and get ahead on their own merit. You can rise quickly if you are smart and driven. The people are supportive and team based, and the goal is to execute on projects and tasks by making great long term decisions. You have to be able to pivot and adapt to succeed here. And you have to be willing to innovate and work hard! Management is dedicated to the teams' success - we practice high caring, high honesty, radical candor, and it can be rewarding and challenging to get that kind of feedback. If you have a low ego and you want to get really good at sales (for example) quickly, this is the place to do it. Great culture of freedom and responsibility. The company has an employees first mentality - lots of perks that go beyond the standard benefits. Unlimited vacation, free food, lots of company provided activities (baseball games, parties, other events, etc), and bonuses are some of the things they offer to reward their amazing team.

Cons

Longboard is moving from start up phase into an acceleration mode, and that can be tough for some people to deal with - lots of opportunity if you can roll with change.
