At first, the job description makes it sound like a simple administrative role with some authorization tasks. What they don’t tell you is that you end up doing everything—answering phones constantly, texting patients dozens of times a day, stocking the fridge, giving out snacks, cleaning rooms, taking out the trash daily, and even shoveling snow.
The workload is overwhelming and outside the scope of what you were promised. The “plus” of the role—getting authorizations—barely makes up for all the extra manual labor and constant interruptions. It feels more like a scam than a professional position.
If you’re expecting a focused administrative or healthcare role, this isn’t it. You’re basically a multi-tasking assistant for every single office need, and it’s exhausting.
