Pros
Diverse multi-cultural office with people from all over the world. The technical staff and engineers are friendly and nice to work with. Team leaders are for the most part competent, approachable and supportive. Flexible (more-or-less) work hours. Nice physical office environment with good facilities. Relaxed environment for a researcher or fresh graduate. Compensation and benefits are competitive with industry.
Cons
At the local GTC management level (above team leader), poor leadership and authoritarian style. Managers are selfish and power hungry. Completely disconnected from staff. More interested in their own job protection, self interests, and impressing/pulling the wool over the eyes of the upper management. Little information sharing from the management down. Office politics include manipulation, lying, taking credit for work they didn't do, bullying, and backstabbing. Blame culture. Not much career/personal development of staff. Not a place to stay if you want to grow unless you are a fresh graduate. Training is often promised, but rarely delivered. Focus on time booking and utilisation, control and monitoring, rather than productivity/deliverables and collaboration. Project processes are very unwieldy and very bureaucratic. Constructive criticism of these processes is ignored.
