Pros

Good location (Brixton) and the freelancers were lovely.

Cons

Horrible atmosphere of 'personal PR' where everyone was out for themselves and you were on your guard against backstabbing colleagues at all times e.g. endless feedback about whether you had been reported as enthusiastic and smiley and 'living the agency brand' enough. We once had a team meeting where everyone had submitted anonymous positive feedback about each other - this was read out person-by-person until about four people who had not received any positive feedback were left sitting on the opposite side of the room. All the 'successful' people then had to discuss how we could help these four people become 'successful' too. We were also once made to sing 'Living on a Prayer' a capella in a team meeting because we were "woah halfway there" to hitting our targets for the year. I imagine those who didn't mouth the words enthusiastically enough were probably reported to their line managers. In all honesty, I have never worked somewhere run by people so entirely bonkers and detached from reality. One of the MD's sent the entire company an email about how she needed a holiday every 'ten or so weeks' otherwise she found it too hard 'to yoga' and nobody batted an eyelid. 50% of the office were eating 'macro' or 'pegan' at any particular time (and went on about it endlessly). At one point we were all encouraged to buddy up with someone else on a diet so we could help to 'keep them accountable' i.e. call them out if they ate a bag of crisps in the office. I spent an entire summer working in multiple jumpers and a scarf because my desk was under an aircon vent and was told I was 'being negative' when I asked if I could possibly have a seat not under an aircon outlet when we did the next office shuffle. The final straw for me was being given feedback on my 'lack of positivity' five weeks after a close family bereavement (I took one day off for the funeral but otherwise was in the office the entire time because my workload was such that I was made to feel I had no other option).

Pros

great company that makes a difference in young people's lives. Great benefits like quarterly company events and start up feel.

Cons

Was starting to get bogged down a bit by process when I left. Meetings about meetings kept happening!
