The tech team was extremely overworked, pulling 14 hour days 6-7 days a week to try to keep up with the demands of marketing, and with a workflow where development and production code were kept in separate repositories instead of just different branches, which made deployment a nightmare- a dev cycle would finish and deployment would take another week to get everything working in the production repository. Not to mention the engineering team shared an open-plan office with the sales & support departments, so there was constant background noise of people on phone calls all day.
