Pros
Caring coworkers, wonderful students, never had issues getting time off when I needed it.
Cons
Terrible work life balance. Out of all the districts I had taught in, this district was pretty inconsiderate. They put so many demands on myself, and other teachers that were physically impossible to attain. Our "conference time" consisted of meetings that could have been emails, team meetings that also could have been either a) 10 minutes maximum b) an email, Teachers were never asked their thoughts on absolutely anything of substance. We were never informed of changes in our campus, or events. Our principal led us, but it was not a decision process as a campus, it felt like only the principal and assistant principal's decisions, and then they told us whatever they came up with, and told us to deal with it. I understand that they do have that commitment, but trust me, administration should be asking teachers about their thoughts and feedback, as we are the people who are actively teaching and carrying out the policies. We also did not receive much support from the administration during our day. When I had signed on, I was informed admin had an open door policy, but it could not have been further from the truth, Save yourself some heartache, and seek a teaching position elsewhere.
