Pros

It's remote that's about it

Cons

False Promises During Divesture: My experience at Litmos started with hope, fueled by promises made during the company's divesture. These promises, however, were not fulfilled, leading to a significant disconnect between what was assured and what actually happened, resulting in disappointment and loss of trust among the team.Removal of Esteemed Leaders: The departure of respected leaders, who were more mentors than mere managers, dealt a severe blow to our morale. Their absence left a gap that the new management couldn't fill, diminishing the company's soul and spirit.Micromanagement by New Leadership: The new leadership has brought in a culture of excessive oversight, severely limiting creativity and self-direction. This pervasive micromanagement has created an oppressive work environment, adversely affecting our performance and ability to innovate.Impact of Private Equity Ownership: The transition to private equity control has had a starkly negative impact. A rigorous and uncompromising approach by the equity firm has led to rapid and repeated mass layoffs, instilling a constant sense of insecurity and apprehension within the workforce.High Stress Levels Among Employees: All these changes have resulted in an exceedingly stressful workplace. The ongoing concern over job stability, combined with relentless pressure from above, has significantly harmed the mental health and overall morale of the staff. Conclusion: These transformations at Litmos appear to primarily serve the interests of those at the top, often at the cost of the staff's well-being. This shift in priorities has transformed what was once a thriving and promising company into a challenging and stressful environment. I recommend potential employees to weigh these aspects thoughtfully before deciding to join.

Pros

I had the opportunity to work with many talented and dedicated colleagues who genuinely cared about customers and each other pre PE. The people were the best part of the company.

Cons

Following the private equity ownership period, the company experienced repeated layoffs, significant employee turnover, and frequent leadership changes that fundamentally changed the culture. Decisions often appeared to prioritize short-term objectives over employee stability and long-term organizational health. Morale steadily declined as experienced employees departed and teams were asked to do more with fewer resources. Communication around major changes frequently lacked transparency, leaving employees feeling disconnected from leadership and uncertain about the future. What was once a collaborative and positive environment became increasingly defined by instability, cost-cutting, and a lack of confidence in the company’s direction.
